AutoStore is a warehouse robot technology company with the densest order-fulfilment solution in the world.

In close collaboration with AutoStore’s design and dev teams over a period of six months we helped ideate and design the next chapter of their design tools. As the lead product designer, I was responsible for ideation, prototyping and overall design.

Experts at AutoStore create custom-made warehousing installations called Grids for their customers using their own set of design tools.

We’ve decided to merge both of their tools into one, allowing their designers to simulate various scenarios to test Grid’s effectiveness while simultaneously tweaking the design. This new web-based design tool allows the Grid designers to work closely with their clients, taking them through every step of the design process.

The novel and unique nature of the product and my endless drive to deliver the best result made me push our design tools to the limit:

AutoStore’s dev team was to implement our work, so we equipped them with a Figma design system consisting of theme and typography rules, visual assets and reusable components:

Part of the design system was a set of 350+ icons consistent with the AutoStore brand. I crafted every icon in two sizes: 24px for regular use and 20px for smaller, more dense interfaces:
